Milun Tesovic Joins Silicon Valley Startup Studio Created by Uber Founder

Last week entrepreneur Milun Tesovic announced that he has joined Silicon Valley’s Expa as a Partner and will be opening a Canadian office in Vancouver.

Self-described as a “startup studio” and created by Uber co-founder Garrett Camp, Expa raised $50 million in funding in 2014 from some big names, including Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson, HP CEO Meg Whitman, and 4-Hour Workweek author Tim Ferriss.

Tesovic co-founded Vancouver’s Metrolyrics along with the late Alan Juristovski and it was acquired by CBS Interactive Music Group in 2011.

Not an incubator or a VC, Expa works with proven founders to develop and launch new companies.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with the other Partners—a dynamic group of leaders who are making innovative ideas happen. The decision to join Expa was easy: I’ll be surrounded by a forward-thinking team, creating a diverse portfolio of products that make our lives better. There are few times you get to work with people who are truly changing the world, and the team at Expa certainly is,” Tesovic wrote on Expa’s website.

Expa usually founds new companies based on their own ideas, but they occasionally collaborate with founders of early-stage companies whose missions they believe in. In such cases they become hands-on partners to a company, to help craft the brand, build the prototype and iterate towards product-market-fit.

Tesovic continued, “For more than a decade, I’ve been fortunate enough to advise, invest and start companies I believe in, while selling a few along the way. Bringing my past experiences as Founder at Metrolyrics (and other less known ventures), I look forward to continuing the Expa mission of creating impactful products.”

Tesovic is be focused on establishing an Expa presence in Canada and will split his time between Vancouver and San Francisco. Expa is currently hiring for stealth projects in Vancouver.
