Mobile Camp VancouverNo doubt there's a mobile phone sitting beside you, or in your pocket, right now. There's also a good chance that the phone is actually a highly capable computing device with the potential to do much more than we use them for. and many developers want to change that. Enter Vancouver's second MobileCamp.

MobileCampVancouver2 is bringing together iPhone junkies, Crackberry addicts, couch surfers, coffee shop hackers, vagabonds and mobile nomads to share the current state and their visions for the future direction of mobility. MobileCampVancouver2 hopes to support the many voices helping to unlock the potential of a truly mobile life. Topics may include - but are not limited to - mobile gaming, entrepreneurship, social mobility and presence, near field communication, physical hyperlinking, mobile storytelling, the importance of open standards, protocols, and platforms, linux based devices, and mobility on other continents.

MobileCamp will follow a BarCamp style, and take place Saturday, September 6th at WorkSpace. Discussion will span multiple platforms: iPhone, Blackberry, and Symbian, plus the others that are still catching up. If you think you have a topic to contribute, it looks like there's still room for presentations or demos. Kudos to Igor and John from Handi Mobility, and Jean from Mobile Muse for organizing this. You can sign up on the MobileCampVancouver2 wiki.

VanAjax has an interview with MobileCamp organizer John Boxall, talking about mobile development with both native and web apps.
