Mobility versus the Big Three: Who has better network quality in Calgary?

In Calgary, wireless startup Mobilicity recently launched the Network Challenge, which pitted Mobilicity's network quality against the Big Three—Rogers, Telus, and Bell—in what was essentially a blind test on consumers (think Coke versus Pepsi tests way back when).

Roughly 1,000 Calgarians took the test, and over 40 percent said they couldn't tell a difference. And, out of the 59 percent who did notice a difference, 78 percent actually preferred Mobilicity.

These are pretty good results for Mobilicity, even though CEO Dave Dobbin played the stats down in favour of touting Mobilicty's value over its network quality: “The biggest difference for our customers isn’t network quality, it’s that Mobilicity is a better deal that saves customers loads of money.”
