Less than a year after we told you about a $1 million cash injection for their startup by AVAC, Calgary-based MoboVivo that licenses TV shows and distributes them online and for mobile made another huge announcement today. It has licensed the award-winning prime time television series, The Tudors, from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. (Yey, love the Tudors!)
MoboVivo will begin distributing the new season of The Tudors immediately after it airs in Canada. Until then, fans of the show can take advantage of a special promotion to pre-order a Season Pass for The Tudors, Season 3 for $9.99, a 50 per cent discount.
MoboVivo founder and CEO, Trevor Doerksen says this latest deal sends a strong signal to the marketplace about MoboVivo executing its prime-time strategy and also takes into consideration the newly announced Canadian New Media Fund.

The MoboVivo.com WebStore offers more than 2,000 TV shows for download, including prime time dramas, comedy, sports, music, documentaries and health and lifestyle content. The consumer-facing website is developing a unified entertainment platform designed to let customers take TV with them. To date the company has focused on the 150 million-plus iPod/iPhone market segment, becoming the number one iPhone WebApp in April 2008.
