Montreal developers who want to prove their chops and duke it out with their peers for a couple of days will have a chance on Blitzweekend. The event, held March 1st and 2nd in Montreal at Universitite de Sherbrooke, gives developers 48 hours to create, develop and launch a product. Up to 100 people will gather in groups of eight to hammer code together in a race against each other and the clock. The event operates on the philosophy that if an innovative product can't be forged in a weekend, it probably isn't a good idea to begin with. Experienced entrepreneurs will also be at the event to lend a hand. The winning team gets a session with Embrase, a business consulting firm that helps startups prepare their pitches to VCs and other potential investors.
