Montreal's LightSpeed, a software company that helps retailers reinvent in-store shopping, was named the winner of the 5th Annual Innovative Solutions Award in the Software Application category for its LightSpeed for iPad product.

The awards were announced at the RSPA Awards Dinner at RetailNOW 2012, which took place in Las Vegas this week.

“We are extremely excited to win this award recognizing our LightSpeed for iPad product,” said Dax Dasilva, founder and CEO of LightSpeed. “It is a product that is changing the industry, uniquely designed to arm retailers with tools to cross-sell more products and close more sales. Borrowing from the ecommerce playbook, LightSpeed for iPad helps retailers bring the access, value and speed of the online shopping experience into the store through engagingcustomer interactions.”

LightSpeed for iPad is retail’s first interactive point-of-sale platform that gives stores a personalized sellingtool that scans inventory, details products not shown on the selling floor, and eliminates long checkout lines. Its “Show & Tell” feature enables sales associates to turn their iPad towards the customer to share expanded product details and up to five zoomed images on a stylish curtained backdrop. Further, it provides the ability to easily invoice the product with a single tap. Retailers can process credit card payments anywhere the iPad takes them, accept signatures on-screen, and email or wirelessly print receipts.

LightSpeed, led by founder and CEO Dax Dasilva, was founded in 2005 and has offices in Montreal and Ottawa.
