Finalists have been selected for this year's Canadian Startup Awards and voting is now open.

Here's a quick rundown of the six finalists competing for the title of Most Significant Acquisition of 2012.

BUFFERBOX ACQUIRED BY GOOGLE

BufferBox was founded by three engineering students at the University of Waterloo. It was acquired by Google for a reported $17 million or more. The company solves the problem of failed parcel deliveries by leveraging automated, self-serve locker kiosks.

GOINSTANT ACQUIRED BY SALESFORCE

Halifax's GoInstant emerged from stealth at TechCrunch Disrupt in late 2011. It was acquired by Salesforce for $70 million. The company provides smooth, real-time co-browsing of the web, among other features.

SUMMIFY ACQUIRED BY TWITTER

Vancouver's Summify graduated from Bootup Labs and made a major pivot early in its life. It was acquired by Twitter for an undisclosed sum that may have been an all-stock transaction. The company offered a "social news reader" that helped users consume news in minutes instead of hours.
