Calgary's Multiplied Media announced today the release of a special version of their Poynt service designed specifically for the BlackBerry Bold to take full advantage of its video streaming capabilities. Poynt is Multiplied's multimedia, local search service that is powered by Yellowpages.ca, Superpages.com and Cinema-Source.

BlackBerry Bold owners are now able to use Poynt to view streaming movie trailers. The new version is available to owners of the BlackBerry Bold in Canada and will be supported when the smartphones are released on the AT&T network in the US.

Essentially Poynt connects consumers to businesses and theaters. By entering search terms, the consumer is able to find businesses and movies near their location, get phone and address information as well as enhanced data such as interactive maps, movie reviews and the ability to purchase movie tickets. Poynt's application for the BlackBerry takes advantage of the smartphone's robust capabilities including locates by GPS and IP detection, click-to-call, click-to-map and click-to-view-website functionality.
