With personal health becoming a concern for more and more Canadians, motivation and setting and meeting goals are being recognized as a key aspect of becoming healthier.

That’s why Mississauga’s MYTRAK is becoming such a relevant company in health technology. MYTRAK is focused on motivating people to stay healthy regardless of where they are — at home, at work, at play, all are great opportunities to get active. MYTRAK produces a wide range of health tracking devices, from heart rate monitors to devices that monitor workout techniques and muscle performance.

Beyond physical devices that monitor workouts, MYTRAK is also using social network techniques to provide communities that help encourage and motivate users to meet their goals and keep persevering with their efforts at improved health. Users can share their experiences with family, friends and complete strangers through blogs and message boards. Announcements, tips and stories are posted on the MYTRAK community groups based on personal interests can be joined. Users can take on friendly community challenges to keep motivated and have fun.

MYTRAK also provides access to “Personal Health Coaches,” who are able to review your health data and make recommendations and suggestions to help users reach their goals. The Coaches also produce webinars to suggest new workout techniques and ideas. They are available for communication and questions from users, making the relationship a two-way street.

Powering MYTRAK’s premiere device, the Smart Coach, is New York-based Polar Technologies. Polar manufactures heart rate monitors used by MYTRAK, and the Smart Coach uses the Polar monitors to automatically update users’ health profiles remotely and without effort on behalf of the user.

“The biggest barrier to achieving a healthy lifestyle is motivation. If you’re motivated, you can do almost anything, and we like to think that with the MYTRAK Smart Coach we’re giving people the right technology and tools to reach their fitness goals,” said Reed Hanoun, President and CEO of MYTRAK, in a statement.
