Natalie MacLean Aims to Simplify Your Canadian Wine Shopping with Latest App

It's always difficult to choose which wine bottle you're going home with. Natalie MacLean wants to make that much easier for you.

MacLean, who has built a series of Canadian wine apps since 2009 that allows you to see the real-time stock for every wine bottle at the particular store has realized that's not useful for the hurried average wine connoisseur. She's developed a new app that is all about finding the top 10 wines in the stores closest to you by price, type and review score. Additionally, if you're looking to stock up on something in particular, the app will tell you which stores have the bottle in particular you are looking for and how many there are available.

For those that have a wine cellar, the app allows you to simply scan every bottle's barcode with your smartphone to create a log of the wines you have.

MacLean says: "You can zip through your entire collection with one click per bottle or add optional information as you go, such as where you bought the wine, when you want to drink it, etc. Even if your collection (or hair) isn’t quite as extensive as Georgio’s — it’s just as fabulous for you to know which wines you have on hand, especially when you can check on your app when you’re out shopping".

Finally, MacLean says the app also has an educational component with a number of wine videos to help you pass the time and beat the boredom of waiting in line.

A pretty useful location-based app indeed. You can check out other ones as we profiled Samir Al-Battran's location-based app building success a couple weeks ago.
