Nest Labs Among Cleantech Leaders Visiting Vancouver

Last week Google purchased Nest Labs, the maker of the Nest Learning Thermostat and Protect smoke detector, for $3.2 billion in cash.

On January 30 UBC Sauder School of Business’s ISIS Research Centre will host Partnerships for Canada's Clean Economyto share crucial insights on clean technology from leading thinkers and jurisdictions around the world. Among the esteemed speakers will be Andy Baynes of Nest Labs.

Other high level conference speakers include Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson presenting on "Creating an Innovation Economy for the City of Vancouver" and General Fusion's Michael Delage on the future of power generation.

The conference aims to generate and share ideas for actionable partnerships between the public and private sector to accelerate investment in Canada's clean economy.

The day-long event at the Vancouver Convention Centre will also include the Clean Capital Showcase where 20 Canadian Cleantech CEOs will discuss their businesses with interested parties and share their personal experiences of growing a clean technology company in Canada.
