Nethooks, a new professional networking site, gave a presentation at DemoCampVancouver04 at Workspace tonight. The site was created because of frustration with sites like LinkedIn, which are slow to adapt to new technologies and trends, and is aimed at new and entry level professionals, instead of established executives. Users can include personal information while still maintaining a professional profile, and also allows profiles to be viewed at varying privacy levels. Users also must answer a series of "yes-or-no" questions to discourage spam, friend farmers and recruiters (if the user so chooses.) Membership will be free, and the site plans to create revenue through job listings.
