New Tech Meetup Calgary Celebrates First Birthday

Posted by Techvibes NewsDesk

It’s been nearly one year since technology enthusiast Mark Williams, an entrepreneur-in-residence at Innovate Calgary, decided to launch New Tech Meetup Calgary.

New Tech Meetup provides an opportunity to engage with others in the tech startup community, learn about hot tech companies, and support or join local startups.

“There’s tons of energy in Calgary’s startup community, and numerous organizations working together to grow and enhance the success of new ventures,” says Williams. “My goal in starting New Tech Meetup was to try and integrate Calgary’s startup, business, academic and investor communities.”

Since launching last March, New Tech Meetup has attracted over 450 members. Events take place on the second Thursday of each month kicking off with networking followed by presentations from local tech startups.

“The response has been incredible. Members range from serial entrepreneurs and technology professionals, to students and new residents to the city looking to make connections in the tech sector,” says Mark. “All you need is a passion for tech and interest in meeting new people. We hope current and new members will join us on March 13 to celebrate our one year anniversary and hear some great presentations and also thank our sponsors."
