Steam hits 30 million accounts thanks to crazy growth rate

Valve has announced that its PC gaming hub, Steam, now has 30 million registered accounts.

Steam has gained impressive traction in the past year - Valve notes its figures are up a staggering 178 per cent.

Gabe Newell, president of Valve said that "Steam is on track to record the biggest year in its six year history," thanks to major development advances to the platform such as support for Mac titles, the Steam Wallet, and in-game item buying support.

On any given day there are six million users logging on to the service.

E-Book sales also see crazy growth

Print book sales decline slowly as e-book sales grow rapidly.

E-book sales are up nearly 200% this year to date, according the Association of American Publishers. E-books shot up from 3% of trade sales in the U.S. to a whopping 9%, pulling in well over $250 million already this year.
