TD offers online global trading to Canadians

TD Waterhouse Discount Brokerage has introduced a new, online global trading feature, a first for Canada. It will provide real-time online access to exchanges in 10 countries, including leading European and Asian Pacific markets, such as London, Sydney, Paris, Hong Kong, Milan, and Madrid. Investors can settle trades in seven currencies, including British pound, Euro, U.S. dollar and Canadian dollar.

“This powerful new platform will provide Canadians with the speed and control they need to continue to diversify their investments and maximize their returns in today’s global markets,” says John See, president of TD Waterhouse Discount Brokerage. “Through our Global Trading platform, Canadian investors are now able to act on these investment opportunities online.”

“North American exchanges represent only 35% of the global capital markets. Limiting your portfolio to U.S. and Canadian listed investments could mean missing out on a world of opportunities,” says Patricia Lovett-Reid, senior vice-pres of TD Waterhouse. “Through one trading platform, you can now build a truly diversified portfolio of blue chip North American companies, dividend yielding European equities as well as shares in faster growing Asian markets."

Clearly Contacts says social media inspired its new product

ClearlyContacts.ca has introduced a new line of Transitions progressive lenses. They are designed for customers who want to have a pair of eyeglasses for reading, long-distance and whatever falls in between, in all light conditions. These photochromic, transitional lenses adjust from dark to light based on lighting conditions (previously available for single vision eyeglasses only).

Customers have been telling CC what they want through the company's Facebook and Twitter pages, and CC listened.

"Clearly Contacts was conceived with the vision to help consumers find a better way to buy vision care products," explains ClearlyContacts.ca Founder and CEO Roger Hardy. "We took what we knew from surveys and phone calls, and implemented what our customer wanted. Now with social media, feedback comes at an incredible pace and quantity giving us insights on when we are on the right track, or if there is something we can do to improve our service for each individual customer."

"The conversations that go on within our Facebook page contain extremely valuable information, happening in real time, in reaction to our products and services," Roger adds. "We are able to listen to our customers needs and then start a process of action to meet those needs. In a business sense, this is a goldmine of feedback."
