Novus and Public Mobile to partner on wireless service?

According to itWorldCanada's Howard Solomon, Vancouver's Novus Wireless has been talking to Toronto's Public Mobile about a potential partnership. While Novus officials won't comment about launching wireless service this year, a deal would make sense since Novus has already bought $17.9 Million worth of bargain-basement spectrum covering Alberta and British Columbia.

The two startups share similar PCS spectrum and would be natural partners. A deal could offer subscribers of one service the ability to make local calls when they travel to the other’s area.

Novus Wireless is owned by developer Terrance Hui's Concord Pacific who also owns fibre optic cable provider Novus Entertainment Inc.

Public Mobile hopes to launch a low-cost service in Toronto and Montreal by the summer after spending $52 Million on its spectrum.
