Online Protection Session Gives Cost-Effective Security Tips

Posted by Jonathon Narvey

In an uncertain economic climate, security is even more important for ensuring businesses don't suffer downtime from a cyber-attack. A Vancouver Board of Trade event aims to educate companies about online threats how they can protect themselves with cost-effective solutions.

Online Protection: How To Secure Your Business and Build ConsumerTrust is a Managers' Toolbox session happening at the Sutton Place Hotel in downtown Vancouver on March 10th. Pacific Coast Information Systems Ltd. President Vaclav Vincalek will provide essential tips and practical steps for businesses to mitigate the risk from hackers and cyber criminals.

"Hackers and cyber criminals are increasingly employing multi-faceted tactics that businesses must prevent if they want to survive, much less compete," Vincalek says. "A successful attack on a company's network or online presence, which can take a hacker seconds to deploy, can put a company out of business permanently. In 2009, it's going to get even worse, so we want to educate organizations about how to deal with the threats."

The business networking opportunity and educational session will cover:

  • How and why cyber criminals target your business;
  • The consequences of a web security breach;
  • Why your business (not your hosting company or web design firm) is liable for any web security breach;
  • How to protect your business assets and your customers' privacy.

Vincalek has over 25 years of experience in the IT sector. PCIS is a Vancouver-based compan. It's Boonbox division offers a range of network securityand web security solutions. Vaclav is also a frequent and in-demand speaker about IT security issues.
