On the look out for Community Managers

As a hyper-local technology blog serving multiple cities, Techvibes relies heavily on contributors across North America to insure that we're covering the news you want to read about.

Over the past three months we've found that our new Community Manager role - Varun Mathur in Toronto and Henry Finn in Kitchener-Waterloo - takes our hyper-local model one step further with local representation to make sure we stay up-to-date on local stories, event, and tech start-ups.

It's now time to fill out our roster of Community Managers and we're actively looking for partners in Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria, Seattle, Portland, and Denver-Boulder.

Local Community Managers are responsible for building online content and driving traffic to the Techvibes Blog, Events Calendar, Job Board, and Directory. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Writing about local tech start-ups, news, and events
  • Encouraging local guest blog contributors to submit blog posts
  • Keeping the local Events Calendar up-to-date
  • Representing Techvibes at local events
  • Encouraging local tech companies to post their opportunities on the Job Board
  • Encouraging local tech companies to create and/or maintain their own Directory listing

Techvibes arms Community Managers with a toolkit that includes a Techvibes email address, access to our Google Analytics data, and business cards.

Community Managers are compensated with a $200 monthly stipend to cover out-of-pocket expenses and are entitled to a 50% commission on all advertising packages sold resulting from one of their local interactions.

As we continue to add revenue-generating elements to the site like our paid Job Board and upcoming premium Directory listings, this sideline position could become a solid revenue stream.
