Online Video Crowdsourcing Company Wooshii Opens Office in Halifax [Video]

Posted by Stephen Christensen

Wooshii, the popular video and animation marketplace from Manchester, have decided to set up shop in Halifax. Their new North American Headquarters and Development Centre will oversee an expansion of their already successful business model, into Canadian and US markets.

By crowdsourcing rich media projects to a community of talented digital video and animation professionals, Wooshii allows buyers to quickly, efficiently, and cheaply get media projects completed.  Whether you’re needing a video to get your startup out there (i.e. successful kickstarter video) or you are a large corporate entity looking for an advertisement, Wooshii can connect you to the right person for the job. Simply post your video requirements to Wooshii, wait for the pitches to roll in, and select the one you like best.

The Wooshii international network consists of 5,000 creative developers, a number that can only increase as the company gains footing in North America.  In Halifax, the company plans to have 12 employees by the end of the year. The President of Wooshii’s new North American Headquarters is Paul Ryan, formerly of New Brunswick social media firm Radian6.

Wooshii CEO Fergus Dyer-Smith believes Halifax is a perfect fit.

After I was introduced to the Halifax tech community by Permjot Valia, one of our investors, I realized the city would be the perfect place to base our North American operations. First, it offered great transport links between our office in the U.K. and major markets in the U.S. and Canada. Second, Halifax’s talent pool and its superb post-secondary institutions convinced us we could staff our office with top-notch personnel. And finally, we received invaluable assistance from James Curry and Martin Braganza from [Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency] ACOA’s Halifax office in helping us navigate the process of setting up the office here.

Wooshii have produce some very notable videos, including Deadmau5’s Some Chords music video, and videos for Life Technologies, MycroBurst.com, and local Halifax startup Tether.
