Product placement: Ontario Finance Minister sports RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook ahead of launch

The cover of Ontario's provincial budget, which was released yesterday, has on it Research in Motion's Blackberry PlayBook, which is still three weeks from launching.

Nonetheless, it seems that Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan is quite the early adopter, and was founding clutching the device and then handing the tablet off to one of his assistants.

Naturally, a reporter asked him if he was getting paid for such prominent product placement, to which Dwight responded, “I think that we should be very proud of Ontario businesses that innovate," according to The Globe and Mail.

Not coincidentally, the province's budget included $50 million over the next decade going toward the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo—the research institution that was founded by Mike Lazaridis, co-CEO of RIM.
