Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation gets $240,000 grant
The Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation received a $240,000 grant from the Federal Government Thursday for the centre's global marketing team, which has been out promoting Ottawa's information and communication technology strength abroad.
The grant, which comes from the Invest Canada-Community Initiatives program, was presented as OCRI Executive Director of Global Marketing Mike Darch returned from presenting Ottawa technology in Mexico City.
“This will be our third year of funding from the ICCI program,” said Darch in a press release. “Over the past two years we have used these funds to aggressively promote the Ottawa brand internationally. Our concentration has been on the Information Communications Technology and clean technology sectors. International and North American trade and business media have published or broadcast 131 stories in response to our aggressive public relations program.”
The City of Ottawa contributed $180,000 as well as some additional private sector funding.
