Ottawa resident using Swapsity to turn tech tradeups into Tesla
In a copycat effort of becoming the next Kyle MacDonald, Ottawa resident Martin Provost aims to turn a used camera into a high-tech, eco-savvy Tesla Roadster convertible.
Using Canada's Swapsity site, Martin started with a camera valued at $40, traded up for a TalkSwitch phone system, and now has an HP pavilion desktop computer.
He wants a thread of tech and eco to be woven through his trades, but the whole thing is pretty unimpressive. First, it's way cooler to start with something as worthless as a paper clip. Second, a Tesla Roadster is quite an unreasonable end goal, especially for a new father. Smelling good PR, Swapsity has dedicated a page to Martin's "epic" quest, but it will more than likely flop without some tremendous luck and a very, very generous Tesla owner.
He's not the first person to attempt to mimic Kyle's ways, and he won't be the last. All the power to him, but he's apt to soon be forgotten in the midst of more realistic goals and tangible successes.
