Ottawa's Mercury Launch joins GrowLab & FounderFuel in new wave of Canadian Startup Accelerators
Ottawa's Scott Annan announced this morning the launch of a new accelerator for Canada's capital - Mercury Launch.
Mercury Launch's mission is to support Ottawa’s best entrepreneurs and accelerate future world-class web and mobile businesses through seed funding, mentorship, a powerful global network, and office space.
Similar to the model started by YCombinator and followed by many, Mercury Launch will provide entrepreneurs with up to $25,000 in seed funding, 3-4 months of intense programming, office space, and access to a mentor network. There is one exception though - you have to be in/from Ottawa to participate.
Mercury Launch will be selecting 4-5 companies to start a 3-month program beginning in September and the cut off to apply is August 20th.
While Vancouver's Bootup Labs floundered and fizzled last year there is a wave of support for startup accelerators washing across the country. Vancouver's GrowLab launched in May followed by Montreal's FounderFuel last month.
Techvibes compared GrowLab and FounderFuel head-to-head but it looks like it is time for an update adding Mercury Launch to the mix.
