ComScore recently released new statistics surrounding mobile banking in Canada.

With mobile banking already popular in Canada and up 21% since march, the research firm believes that using your smartphone as a wallet will be an everyday experience in 2012. As many as in 1 in 3 mobile users have downloaded a banking app, according to Mobile Syrup.

Counting all versions of the iPhone, Apple's mobile device is reponsible for over half of all mobile banking activity across all banks. The top smartphone behind the iPhone in mobile banking is RIM's BlackBerry Torch 9800, staking a 7% share in usage. Google's Android OS sees very little activity in mobile banking, perhaps because Android users tend to be less wealthy.

The most-used mobile app is TD Canada Trust's, accounting for 26% of the share. RBC is second with 21%, and CIBC—which touts its mobile efforts as the best among banks—at 16%.
