Game Garage, an initiative of the Interactive Media Alliance (IMA), is a Charlottetown-based game development program for students. Referred to as a video game incubator project, Game Garage runs from June to August, with the financial assistance of IMA, Telefilm Canada, and Innovation PEI.
This year’s Game Garage, the fourth iteration, pitted two teams of students against each other, in a competition to create the best game possible in three months. The teams were made up of game design and programming graduates from the University of PEI, Holland College in PEI, and the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC).
Chris Sharpley, President of the Interactive Media Alliance, feels the project is a worthy one. “Game Garage 4 is the best ever. Having two teams working side by side in friendly competition has made both projects stronger. Game Garage is proving to be an invaluable program for building the game studios of the future.”
