Canadian Startup Picmile Aims to be the Simplest Way to Share Live Events with Friends

With the rise of smartphones, capturing and sharing moments as they happen has become a big component of modern culture.

Montreal-based Picmile hopes to capture that essence with a new mobile app that allows users to share live events in group photo and message albums with friends and family.

"Start an event that the friends around you can join and take photos together you can all share in a live album," the company says. "Apply awesome filters and share all your pics in one place without ever having to tag each other."

The Canadian startup says that Picmile groups everyones photos and instant messages of any live event in a private or public stream that friends and followers nearby can join or watch, which effectively eliminates the need for participatants to  to tag faces, create lists, or manage circles.

Picmile was founded by Reda Benembarek and Fabien Lafontaine. The startup was launched three months ago. It's currently available only for iOS with no word on Android or BlackBerry 10 releases.
