Postmedia Network has launched major updates to the mobile apps of nine of its Canadian newspapers, granting them all iPhone editions in addition to various feature enhancements.
Originally only available for the iPad, the following newspapers now have apps accessible on the iPhone and iPod touch: the Vancouver Sun, the Vancouver Province, the Calgary Herald, the Edmonton Journal, the Regina Leader-Post, the Saskatoon StarPhoenix, the Ottawa Citizen, the Windsor Star, and the Montreal Gazette. New features of the apps include real-time news alerts, rich photo galleries, and social network connectivity.
“Adding to our growing mobile and digital offerings, these apps continue to build on our ability to deliver a superior experience to our audiences,” said Wayne Parrish, chief transformation and revenue officer for Postmedia Network. “These new apps for iPhone and iPod touch also give Canadian marketers another platform for connecting with an engaged and tech-savvy target audience.”
Postmedia also launched a mobile app for Dose.ca. All of the apps are available immediately for free in Apple's App Store.
