As a Production DBA with AbeBooks your will be a key Member of the Systems Database Group responsible for providing overall database development and support. You will be responsible for providing day-to-day support and maintenance for key Oracle databases and services of our enterprise application platform.

Responsibilites:

  • Responsible for investigating potential database related issues; some urgent occurrences may require you to be available via a blackberry when needed
  • Monitor database events and proactively optimize system performance
  • Work with the db and operations teams to automate reactive procedures where possible, and to promote rapid response to known db related issues
  • Work with other teams to promote changes to production and other environments
  • Accountable for maintaining database configurations in compliance with established best practices
  • Oversee data fixes for business issues or to address application issues
  • Accountable for proper backup and disaster recovery procedures
  • Work in conjunction with other operations, application development, and business groups to understand functionality, scalability, performance, security, and integration requirements from the database perspective
  • Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of the database architecture and the general application functionality used to maintain data integrity.
