OCAD University's President and Vice Chancellor Sara Diamond is one of 27 to be appointed to the Order of Ontario this year. Diamond is known as a data visualizer, wearable technologist, mobile media researcher, artist and designer whose contribution to digital media and design research since 1995 is probably remarkably unparalleled in Canada.

While you can find out all the great things she's done in this release and how amazingly involved she is, let me say that a presentation of hers back in June at the Toronto Board of Trade event run by IT World Canada's editor Shane Schick was impressive.

Diamond in June said that she believed augmented reality was the next thing in mobile that would really take off, but also made people realize that mobile has so many different sensory and communications inputs. In an interview with IBM Canada's mobile lead Alon Kronenberg in the Fall, I covered some of those 15-17 inputs which will only increase as mobile technology continues to evolve in the coming years.

But for now, congratulations to Sara Diamond and all of her hard work which has earned her this most prestigious provincial appointment.

Diamond will officially recieve the Order of Ontario on Thursday.
