PwC accepting nominations for inaugural Innovator of the Year Award

PwC is honouring innovative Canadian tech companies with the eighth annual instalment of their Vision to Reality Awards Program. The awards “celebrate dynamic companies in the technology sector that have demonstrated successful growth, and whose outstanding achievements have made them some of Canada’s most successful technology companies.”

New for 2011, PwC has unveiled the 2011 Innovator of the Year Award. This award will acknowledge the Canadian company with the most innovative technology solution and the successful commercialization of that product. The new innovation “must be new, unique and a ‘game changer’ — with demonstrated customer acceptance.” Anyone connected with the innovative company can nominate that company for the award during the nominations period, which is open from now until March 31st.

After nominations close, entrants will be shortlisted by April 26th, and the winner will be announced May 2nd. At PwC’s 2011 Connecting Vision to Reality Conference on May 11th, the winner will be honoured publicly by PwC.

The winner will be selected by a panel of judges from respected, innovative technology companies. This year’s judging panel includes:

  • Derek Peper, global vice president, alliances, RIM
  • Rick Moscone, partner, Securities Law Group, Fogler, Rubinoff LLP
  • Mark Usher, partner, Wellington Financial LP
  • Howard Gwin, partner, Bridgescale Partners
  • Mark Stirling, vice president, investments, Growthworks Capital
