Radio goes video with Brightcove
Two leading Vancouver radio stations are turning to video to help expand and connect with their listener base. Those two stations are AM650 and Virgin Radio 95.3, part of the Astral Radio Network, and to offer video, they’re using the Brightcove Online Video Platform.
Through the Brightcove platform, AM650, Virgin Radio 95.3 and potentially other stations in Astral’s 83-station network can offer video content that includes interviews, live performances from artists, or even coverage of events presented by these stations. It will also be part of Astral’s push towards more online content, and the potential for content sharing will allow Astral to have more social media- ready content.
“Virgin Radio is always looking for new ways to engage listeners. Our current strategy is 51 percent on-air, 49 per cent online, so this new partnership with Brightcove is a great fit,” said Brad Phillips, vice president of operations for Astral Media B.C., in a statement. “With high quality, on-demand video to support all of our traditional campaigns, we are raising the bar on user experience.”
Virgin Radio has already begun using Brightcove as part of a soft launch. They’ve released a live performance from K.T. Tunstall, and a Fake Film Contest online and more is in the works.
