RedFlagDeals.com enters crowded group buying industry

rfdNot too long ago we featured a video with Derek Szeto who is the founder of RedFlagDeals.com.  In that video, Derek hinted that RedFlagDeals was getting ready to enter the group buying industry.  Well, that time is now.

Deal of the Day, a new offer from RedFlagDeals.com, allows users to subscribe to a daily newsletter featuring savings of up to 95% on local restaurants, shopping, entertainment and events.

RedFlagDeals.com is Canada’s #1 shopping community and is part of the Yellow Media Inc. network of properties.

Deal of the Day is based on group buying principles which provide consumers with exceptional deals on a variety of name-brand products and local services once a minimum numbers of consumers agree to purchase the item. Subscribers help promote the deals by sharing the opportunity with friends and family through social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

Stephane Marceau is the CMO of Yellow Pages Group:

Group buying, or social buying, is one of the fastest growing retail trends as it creates a win-win scenario for businesses through increased sales, and for consumers as a result of significantly discounted products and services. We are uniquely positioned to bring the very best deals to consumers through our network of online properties including RedFlagDeals.com, YellowPages.ca and LesPAC.com. Deal of the Day offers savings to consumers but it is also fun to shop and discover new unique deals every day.

Derek Szeto is the founder of RedFlagDeals.com:

We are extremely excited to bring forward this team buying phenomenon, which has gained tremendous popularity in other countries, through our well-known property.  It is a natural extension to our existing offering of deals.

According to their press release, Deal of the Day will be initially available to Toronto and Montreal consumers before expanding to other Canadian cities in the coming months.
