Silencing critics who predicted the high-RAM, high-res video output, dual-camera wielding PlayBook would command a price point in the four sigits, RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie stated today in a media interview that the company's forthcoming enterprise tablet computer would be priced below $500 - far less than even the iPad's cheapest (and rather useless) model. The best iPad model costs well over $800.

Much like the company's email-friendly Blackberry product line, the PlayBook is aimed to thrive in the corporate realm, with business-oriented consumers picking it up on the side as well.
