RIM has announced the BlackBerry Porsche at an event in Dubai. It is the most expensive official BlackBerry ever made.

The $2,000 smartphone has the same specs and operating system of the Bold 9900 (touchscreen, 1 GHz processor, 5 MP camera, OS 7, etc.). But this special model, the P-9981, boasts premium finishes includng a hand-wrapped leather back, sculpted keyboard, and forged stainless steel frame.

Available at Porsche outlets and "selected outlets" by the end of the year, this "restricted edition" BlackBerry line will also have an exclusive range of BBM PINs.

Good thing RIM is focusing on oddball gimmicks like these while delaying crucial releases.
