Research In Motion acquired mobile infrastructure software company Cellmania, Inc. for an undisclosed sum yesterday.

Cellmania, a leading provider of platforms and services that enable rich content experiences and reduce the complexity of monetizing content across mobile and broadband networks, announced the news on its website yesterday afternoon.

Details on the transaction are still scarce, but it is thought that RIM is making the move to bolster its mobile application store, Blackberry App World, in an effort to better compete with Apple's App Store and Google's Android Market.
