RIM Ranked Dead-Last Among Tech Companies For Environmental Record
Plagued with bad news of late, RIM has another stain to add to the list. In the most recent guide issued by Greenpeace on ranking company's environmental records, Research In Motion ranked dead-last among major electronics makers.
This is the first time that RIM has been included in the guide, titled Guide to Greener Electronics, which has been published annually since 2006. In the report, RIM was criticized for its lack of disclosure and its failure to state environmental targets. However, it did garner some appreciation for its energy-efficient devices, for using paper from sustainable sources, and avoiding materials from countries embattled with human-rights abuses and armed conflict.
HP ranked first and Dell ranked second.
