RIM wants you to join their new, localized Blackberry developer groups—or to make one yourself
Blackberry Developer Groups, a new concept by RIM, are designed to provide local area developers with "the opportunity to share learnings and interests, network with other developers and receive ongoing support from other members."
Developer group members will receive platform and program updates from RIM on a regular basis, discounts on BlackBerry Certification Program exams for developers, and discounts for the BlackBerry Developer Conference. These groups are for BlackBerry developers only—group managers will be keeping membership and meetings focused on application development and distribution for BlackBerry's application platform.
To start a new Developer Group or register an existing group, complete the Developer Groups form. Group Managers will be expected to: maintain regular contact with RIM, run regular meetings for their group, establish a web presence, among other responsibilities. Group managers will enjoy extra benefits, such as additional discounts on certification exams and conferences, eligibility for rewards through the Developer Recognition Program, and membership in a worldwide community of group managers.
