RIM's Blackberry Torch now available in Canada - here's the lowdown on where to get one

blackberryAfter some delays, the long-awaited BlackBerry Torch is now available in Canada, from all three major wireless carriers, Rogers, Bell, and Telus.

The BlackBerry Torch is a top-of-the-line mobile device by RIM. It's touch-screen gadget with a slide-out full keyboard. It boasts a 5 megapixel camera, RIM's new version 6 operating system, 512 MB of app memory, a 624 MHz processor, and more.

It's always a debate on who to buy a phone from. Well, at least the Torch has choice and isn't a one-carrier exclusive. The numbers are virtually identical here, though, so you may want to just pick your favourite network (or logo, or something).

ROGERS | The no-contract price is $610. With a 3-year plan, you can get the Torch for $200. You'll also get a free Bluetooth headset (worth $60 if you need it, zero dollars if you don't).

BELL | The no-contract price is $600. With a 3-year plan, you can get the Torch for $180 (this requires a voice and data plan of $50 or more, however). No known incentive.

TELUS | The no-contract price is $600. With a 3-year plan, you can get the Torch for $200. No incentives but no discount either. Then again, what's a $20 savings on a multi-thousand dollar contract?

The Torch has seen less-than-stellar sales in the U.S., but RIM is a Canadian company and may see better sales here. If not, there's always the Playbook.
