Rogers creates its own daily deal service, Mobile Offers, in Toronto

Just what the world needs: another daily deal service!

Rogers Mobile Offers, exclusive to Rogers wireless customers, delivers daily Groupon-esque offers to mobile phones via text messages.

Some neat things about the service: all data involved is free (although this could be deemed anti-competitive), payments are simply added to your monthly bill (removing the hassle and risk of inputting your credit card info), and automatic e-vouchers sent to your phone for convenient mobile redemption.

However, I think many people are suffering from daily deal overload, given the extreme saturation of the space. The only deal I can see really taking off with Rogers Mobile Offers is a 50% discount to their data plans.

Rogers customers can sign up by texting "JOIN" to 6060. Mobile Offers are currently only available within the Greater Toronto Area with no mention of when other cities will be added (which may be never if it flops).
