Rogers launches another Android device, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

Sony Ericsson (SE) and Rogers Communications Inc. officially announced the sale of the much anticipated and long awaited Xperia X10 Android phone for Canadians on April 15th. Rogers currently holds the widest selection of Android phones in Canada and is the first carrier in North America to release the SE developed device. With the X10, SE is bringing to consumers a whole new experience with their newly developed overlays, Mediascape and Timescape. SE is also making a huge bet on the Android platform with the introduction of this device. The X10 boasts pretty powerful hardware under the hood and has very sleek and intuitive user experience capabilities.

The hardware boasts a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, 1GB on device memory, micro-SD support which allow adding up to 32GB of more memory (16GB SD card is included), an 8.1 MP camera capable of doing 16x digital zoom, bluetooth capabilities, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a vibrant high quality 4” WVGA screen big enough to watch high quality YouTube videos and browse through pictures. And let’s not forget the device comes in two color choices, Sensuous Black and Luster White.

Along with the hardware capabilities the software and user experience which the X10 brings to the market is worth noticing as well. The X10 is powered by Android 1.6 mobile operating system, which will be upgraded to 2.x later this year. The user experience game changers like the Timescape and Mediascape applications, mixed with face recognition and tagging capabilities are an innovative way of arranging all your friends and connection. Finally the infinite button takes the user experience one step further and brings the above mentioned capabilities come together at the touch of a button. In addition to these new capabilities the standard Google applications are all available with this device.
