Ryan Holmes and Sir Richard Branson Want Canadian Tech Startups to Embark on a Global Adventure

Last Friday, one of Canada's great entrepreneurs, Ryan Holmes, met with iconic British billionaire Sir Richard Branson outside of Vancouver's beautiful Convention Centre.

Today, they are spearheading a new competition. Called the UKTI Canada Global Adventure, the United Kingdom Trade and Investment Canada is calling on Canadian entrepreneurs to join London's Tech City for the adventure of a lifetime. The winning Canadian tech startup will be flown to the vibrant tech hub for three invaluable days of networking, mentorship, and a bespoke business program.

Vancouver's HootSuite, of which Ryan Holmes is founder and CEO, is one of the country's hottest tech startups, with a valuation as high as $500 million. The wildly popular social media dashboard has selected London to anchor its expanding European operations.

“For HootSuite, London has the perfect mix of talent and customers," Ryan explains. "The friendly political and business environments have made it very easy to build our first international presence in the UK."
