Salesforce Lays Off Several Dozen More Employees in Canadian Office

Salesforce is laying off 200 employees, roughly one third of which are based in the company's New Brunswick office.

This follows a round of Radian6 layoffs last October. Salesforce acquired Radian6 for more than $300 million in 2011.

The layoffs come as Salesforce Marketing Cloud combines its own products with the product of its acquisitions. However, when Salesforce bought Radian6, it was believed to be a job creator. Since then, the company has failed to create and keep jobs in the New Brunswick area.

"Combining ExactTarget with our existing Marketing Cloud provides synergy, and we will be reducing our total headcount by approximately 200 people globally to reflect this opportunity," a spokesperson for Salesforce told Techvibes. "We care deeply about our employees and we’re providing resources to position them for success in the next step of their careers—whether that’s a new position within Salesforce or a new opportunity elsewhere."

The good news from all this is that the Maritimes' talent shortage may have just eased up with a flood of new workers.
