SaskTel Expands 4G Wireless Network

SaskTel has announced that  it has expanded its 4G wireless network to 11 more locations across the province of Saskatchewan, including Carnduff, Dinsmore, Makota, and Willow Brook. The continued expansion, combined with the recent deployments of 4G light pole towers, cellular on wheels, new permanent tower sites, and other equipment, "have significantly improved the 4G experience for SaskTel customers," the company says.

SaskTel has also completed engineering enhancements over the past two months, "including high capacity equipment installations, software upgrades, network optimization and adding radio spectrum"—all leading to the telco providing "50% overall capacity improvement for customers." The company says that call drops have been reduced to below 1%, with call completions at 98%.

“SaskTel has deployed a mix of engineering solutions that is improving the 4G customer experience in concrete ways across the province,” said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO. “Customers can expect a sustained effort to continually expand and improve the SaskTel 4G network throughout 2012.”
