Marcelo Calbucci's Seattle 2.0 blog is jumping into the awards business with their first annual Seattle 2.0 Awards this Spring. The Seattle 2.0 Awards will recognize the people and companies who make the Seattle startup community happen.

Calbucci has set up an awards site where you can nominate your favorite Seattle individuals and companies across 10 categories over the next two weeks. After that, a panel of 30 of CEOs, founders, investors, service providers, journalists and bloggers in Seattle will select the Top 3 on each category and then they'll open it up for public voting until late April. The award categories are:

  • Best Startup
  • Best Boot-strapped Startup
  • Best Startup CEO
  • Best Startup Technologies
  • Best Startup Product Designer
  • Best Venture Capitalist
  • Best Angel Investor
  • Best Service Provider to Startups
  • Best Blog from/about Startups
  • Best Social Event for Startups

The Seattle 2.0 Awards ceremony will take place on May 7th at the Pacific Science Center with food, drinks, and chance to network with the startup community.  There will be a startup showcase and master of ceremonies, Renay San Miguel (King 5/NWCN), will be announcing the winners in each category.
