Yesterday we wrote about how 500,000 Android devices are being activated daily, up from 100,000 just one year ago.
Today it's been revealed that Android apps have been downloaded a total of 4.5 billion times—with the most recent on billion occurring in the last 60 days alone.
With over 200,000 apps available, only Apple's iPhone is app-competitve with Android.
But, as we noted yesterday, Android's market share has declined in North America since March after U.S. wireless carrier Verizon made the iPhone available in February.
Based on the app's current growth trajectory, Android may hit the 10 billion downloads mark by the end of this year.
