Songza Reaches Deeper into Canadian Roots with Hiring of Alan Cross

by Techvibes NewsDesk

Songza launches in Canada in 2012 and has become very popular in the country.

The free online music streaming service, which offers expertly curated playlists based on things like moods and occasions, now boasts nearly three million unique monthly users.

This year, Songza plans to greatly increase its expansion in Canada. Unlike Spotify and Pandora, one of few music streaming services born in the US that have made a meaningful impression. The company has a new office in Toronto's MaRS Discovery District, strategically located near the local university's downtown campus.

To fuel 2014's growth in Canada, Songza hired broadcast radio industry mainstay Alan Cross to become the company's "head of curation" for Canada. Cross will be responsible for building a roster of music experts across the country who will tailor Canadian-specific playlists.
