Sprout Up Toronto coming up on Wednesday, featuring GetSatisfaction's Lane Becker

The year is just beginning for Sprout Up Toronto, with their first event of 2011 set for Wednesday, February 16th at The Courthouse on Adelaide.

Sprout Up is a monthly meeting and “mind-meld” session for forward-thinking entrepreneurs in Toronto. Networking and information sharing are the focal points for these events. Entrepreneurs of all stripes are invited, but startup entrepreneurs are especially encouraged to attend.

This month’s event will feature special guest Lane Becker [pictured], founder of GetSatisfaction. GetSatisfaction is a startup that facilitates collaboration and communication between companies and the customers they serve. As Becker explains in this instalment of Techvibes TV, his company is about building communities around a company, and helping engaged users help each other and cutting down on customer service costs along the way. GetSatisfaction is based on the principle that “Customer service is the new marketing,” and how customer experiences can shape a company’s reputation to such a degree.

Three companies will be partaking in this month’s Innovation Demo: RateHub, CardSwap and Rocketr. They will be demonstrating their innovative new products and services, which are:

  • RateHub: connects consumers with the best mortgage rates
  • CardSwap: is like an online marketplace for gift cards, which can be bought or sold by users
  • Rocketr: is software that acts like a shared notebook

February’s Sprout Up Toronto takes place Wednesday, February 16th from 6–10 p.m. at The Courthouse. For more information or to register, click here.
