Starbucks Canada Adds Passbook Support

Today, Starbucks Canada updated its iPhone app. Version 2.5's most notable improvement is that it now delivers Passbook support.

Passbook is one of the big new features of Apple's iOS 6. The app consolidates coupons, loyalty cards, and other things like movie tickets and boarding passes into a single interface designed for quick access.

Starbucks has consistently been on the cutting edge of mobile payments, especially within its industry.

The coffee giant has processed tens of millions of mobile payments during the past two years via its smartphone apps that have garnered praise from consumers. The mobile payment component cleverly doesn't require NFC technology—meaning almost all handsets, including the popular iPhone, are compatible.
