It began with Startup Chile. It was followed up by Barack Obama's Startup America, Startup Greece, and Startup Britain.

Now, it is time for Canada to join the ranks. A new initiative called the Startup Canada Campaign has entered its pre-launch phase. The campaign aims to "celebrate, inspire, and accelerate Canadian entrepreneurship" through two core missions: fostering discussions and providing a marketplace of support services.

The initiative is ran by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs. However, it does seem to be a little on the weak end: there is no investment fund like America and no accelerator program. Of course, raising awareness about entrepreneurship in Canada is always worth noting, but lt's hope that when it comes time for the official launch, Startup Canada is more than a link farm.
