Statistics Canada joins Twitter

Statistics Canada, the government department in charge of gathering and publishing statistics on the Canadian economy, culture, population, resources and society has started micro-blogging on Twitter.

Starting today, the Statistics Canada Twitter feed will be Tweeting out links to The Daily, the agency's official release bulletin.

As you can see, today's update points to the monthly manufacturing survey for November 2009.

Other recent posts from The Daily have included stats on international transactions in securities and motor vehicle sales.

The English twitter feed has already amassed more than 1300 followers while the French account has 137.
